their own selfish interests instead of the common good?

I know that the UN has some good humanitarian programs, but fails miserably to adequately support their own peacekeeping forces.

  1. Yep, and it kinda reminds me of Congress and the pork they tack on to bills.  They mean well, but can't resist the lobbyists or their own constituents pressure to get what they want....like the bridge in Alaska that goes nowhere, but is not remotely connected to the "common good".   Well, I think they "mean well", but maybe not!  So, I don't know the answer...I guess "selfishness" is just too strong in everybody.

  2. Too bad we can't just all hold hands and sing hippy songs.
