Question:

What benefit will the Eagles get from appointing Michael Voss as assistant coach?

Voss is only going to the Eagles to better himself. By the time he has learnt enough to be of any use he will swanning off to apply that knowledge to the benefit of some other club! WCE should not be playing the part of Santa Claus when it comes to appointing assistant coaches.

Now they are saying Neale Daniher is the next person they have targeted to sign up. What's going on at that club - isn't there anyone with any knowledge or talent in WA.

They must think that if they throw well known celebrity names about the fans will forgive all their transgressions & below par performances with lots of warm & fuzzy 'oooohs' & 'aaaaahs'.

  1. **I think you bring up a good point and I agree with you.

I wasn't surprised when I heard that Voss was going to the WCE as I suspected he'd be an Assistant Coach for a couple of years over there and then if the AFL get a team up on the Gold Coast he will possibly head back over there to coach that.

I think that the West Coast Eagles are going to have to do a bit more than attract some high profile guys on their coaching staff before their fans will forgive them.

    It's a bit sad really.**

  2. i think you have a good point

i was surprised when the eagles went after him

as for what benefit he will bring, he will work in the midfield, which at west coast is quite depleted following the loss of cousins and judd

  3. No benefit.

They may as well have appointed the old bloke, Kevin Sheedy. He would have done it for $50.00 per week - just to get back into the hype of AFL footy.

  4. girls cant play football?obviously they dont know anything about it either judging by your stupid statement.besides that anyone who supports west coast or collingwood obviously knows nothing about afl anyway!

you would have to be brain dead to not want one of the best footy players in history on your team as a coach.

and i think a lot of ppl here including you should actually learn something about afl before you give your obviosly uninformed biased opinion.

  5. Voss has said he doesn't want anything to do with the QLD club. he is moving to Perth in November raising his children here (and starting school) and going to fall in love with wce, do you think in 2 years he will really pick up every thing and shift his family to the other side of the country AGAIN. i personally don't, i think he is in it for the long hall. i could just be a blind sighted eagles fan, or i could actually be correct!

i really don't care that we are losing, six years in a row in the finals you just reflect on how much these boys have done, we know there not doing so well (quite terrible) now, but just you wait and see us in a few years!!! and i think the supporters are extremely loyal so you have nothing to worry about but thanks for concerning about us!!

    EDIT:

bahahah w.a has talent and remember you (over east) stole it. does Buddy Franklin ring a bell - the best footballer going around. and i urge you to take a look at the draft this year!! by the the way woosha is one of the most successful player and coach.

    EDIT:

Chelsea - in my opinion (as an eagles supporter) they have nothing to be forgiven for!! and they don't owe as anything!!

  6. I think He did what was right for himself and his family

imagine building a clubs reputation and just when they enter the AFL league your credit is taken by some one else and your left with no Job. He asked for a couple more years and they couldn't give it to him. at least with WCE they gave him what he thought was a fair deal.

  7. Woosha did the exact thing you are complaing about or have you forgotton he was assistant at Carlton....

Voss will bring alot of exprience to the Eagles in they way that the current game is played (he played more recently than Woosha)

Who from WA do you suggest ???  I dont think the coach is the problem since he did manage to win (coach and play) a premiership (remember...)

I think the Eagles "supporters" need to remember you cant win all the time and stop acting like spoilt children who dont get their own way.. True supporters support their team when they are winning or losing.

  8. Yeah, I'm surprised the Eagles offered Voss a job, because they know that as soon as he completes his contract, he'll coach another club. All WCE are doing is teaching him skills that he'll use at another club. Good point =)

  9. surely having one of the best footballers ever to play football would be a useful assert, sure he going to learn stuff but I'm sure he has a lot to impart

  10. Being one of the game's elite midfielder's of the past decade I'd imagine he'd play a significant role in coaching and assisting with the continuous development of the young midfield brigade Kerr, Masten, Ebert, Priddis, Butler, Hurn and co.

Would also be able to pass on his experience with regards to leadership as he was a fantastic captain himself and it's an area which definitely has room for improvement at West Coast, after the departure of their 2 biggest leaders in Cousins and Judd last year.

Has also worked at the AIS since retiring, so would be able to assist in providing inside information to recruiting staff regarding personality/attitude/application etc. of many of the future draftees of the next 2 years or so.

He also brings further premiership experience to the coaching panel, so he'd be someone who knows what it takes to win one (or three in his case).

  11. I dont agree, Michael Voss is an excellent player with great skills, hes been in situations of authority and handled it extremely well, hes very passionate about the game otherwise why would he and his family relocate, its more expensive to live in perth than it is in brisbane, yes I am a lions supporter, but also like geelong, swans and magpies, as for neale daniher he played with the demons for years and is well respected, between them they have the knowledge or age and the passion of the young, any club would be lucky to have either of them let alone both of them! :)

  12. John Worsfold is a smart operator, and he would not be bringing Voss on board if he didn't think there would be any benefit. Also, the point of being an assistant coach is to serve an apprenticeship to being a senior coach.

You may be shocked to hear that John Worsfold spent a couple of seasons as an assistant coach at Carlton before he 'ungratefully' dumped them for West Coast. Jeeezzuss...what an evil 'soulless' piece of work he is!!

The fact is, West Coast have got someone who is a 3-time premiership captain, a brownlow medalist, multiple best & fairest and possibly one of the best players of the modern era.

How could West Coast 'not' benefit from his input, particularly considering they have a young list and will be bringing in more youth into their setup over the next two years?

He has been working with the AIS academy over the last two years, working with the young players coming through. You'd have to be soft in the head to think that Voss's appointment would have no benefit to the the club. You don't sound like you know an awful lot about football TBH...

  13. WELL

VOSS WAS A GOOD PLAYER AND HAS RECENTLY RETIRED SO HE WOULD HAV THE SKILLZ

PS. U HAV A NICE PICTURE LOL

  14. He wont contribute much.

Just window dressing by the Eagles to appease disgruntled fans.
