  1. Normally to protect you against the weather - the cold and the rain. Same as when you would wear a jacket going round town really.

There isn't any real benefit to health for wearing one or not wearing one.

  2. to keep the muscles warm and also, having minimal amounts of clothing on is better to lose weight because you are colder and have to burn more to keep warm.

  3. Quite simply to keep warm. Whilst it might seem that the last thing you want to be wearing while running is a jacket, if you have been running for a while then you will sweat less and you might even feel cold while running. If there is a chance for rain then keeping dry underneath a jacket will mean less friction under your arms (skin rubs more when wet), less chance of damaging your immune system and keeping dry hels to keep warm. Staying warm rather than cool is important for performance, muscles work better when warmed up. With better performance you can lose more weight, but more importantly, you get fitter faster. Sweating is not a form of dietry weightloss. Weightloss usually reffers to fat, sometimes muscle, but not water, althought some people who do lose water weight think they have lost fat.

With better performance comes stronger and bigger muscles, having bigger and better muscles means more calories burnt even at rest.

  4. Some people think the more you sweat the more calories you burn or weight you will lose, well you will lose more water weight, but you will get burned out faster and wont go as far as you would at a cooler temperature.

  5. Sweating only makes you lose water weight, not fat.  Usually people wear jackets to keep warm. Some people also think it's fashionable.

  6. yes. it does take a long time to lose weight using that method but is effective.
