  1. probably none. You're just seating the customers not taking the orders etc. You maybe be getting used to being on your feet a lot by being a hostess.

  2. Not alot. Waitressing is alot more work however. I would say bieng a hostess is alot easier. Trust me, i used to be a waitress at a pizza place, and the joint just wasn't cutting out for me.

  3. In my opinion hostess have more benefits other than tips. Being a hostess is much easier than being a waitress.

  4. They get tips aside from their hourly wages, unless you work for a restaurant/bar that banks all tips and divides them per shift.

  5. If a customer is angry and upset by the quality of the food or with the waitress, you don't really have to deal with it.  You just say, "I'm very sorry to hear about the sir.  But, let me get the manager, he's much better equip to handle this problem."

  6. umm, nothing really. Waitresses will make more money, while hostesses only get a cut of the waitresses tips.

Then again, you aren't dealing with the customers nearly as much!! People can get rude and just downright mean! For no reason! And the servers have to deal with them. But you just have to greet them and seat them

  7. I started my ten-year restaurant business career as a hostess, and it was a great way to learn the ropes before waitressing.  You make less money as a hostess, but the work is far less hard physically.  You also don't have to work as late as the waitresses.
