Question:

What benefits would my family reap if my husband were to reenlist in the Army National Guard?

I have been blinded by deployment and all I can focus my attention on is the struggles faced through such separations! I know that isn't everything... but maybe some of you military wives (or anyone) can give me something positive to focus on. How will my husband, myself, and my three children benefit?

  1. kinda echoing what the other have said, but you'll have FULL access to any post/base (which i'm sure you already know already having been through at least one deployment.)  you are fully covered medically, and not to mention the $15,000 extention bonus he will receive.  if he sticks around, the GI Bill that passed is way better, and some of those benefits can be passed along to you or your children.

  2. for an activation, your medical coverage would end 90 days after the deployment does.  otherwise, few benefits at all.. just commissary and exchange privileges.  No medical unless he were activated for more than 30 days.

  3. You don't really get any benefits from the guard except PX privileges. If he gets called up and deployed, then he would get the benefits of an active duty soldier.
