What biases (good/bad) do you have towards/against students with special needs?

  1. They are going to work extra harder or try harder. They are dedicated students. I won't have to worry about them slacking.


  2. Should they be mainstreamed in the classroom or will it disrupt the other students? Are the extra supervision and special considerations worth it if the student will never be able to support themselves? Are all students who are considered disabled really disabled or just looking for an easy out (some ADD or ADHD). If college students with disabilities are given special consideration and help is their degree worth less than a student who is able to manage on their own?

  3. Can they do the work they are assigned? Will they be able to get anything out of the lesson? Is teaching them even worth it? Will they be able to work with others?

    I know these are horrible, but they are popular.
