I'd like to try some simple trails, but this bike will mostly be used for road and some off road.

I am looking at either the Specialized HardRock sport 2008 model

or..

The Trek 3900 2008 model.

What do you guys recommend?

Would it cost much more to have them upgrade the components to Deore?

Thanks for the input!

  1. First off, I don't really have a recomendation for which bike to buy but it would probably cost a pretty penny to upgrade components to deora. Remember not only do you have to buy all new components, but you'll also have to pay quite a bit for labor charges. I would expect to spend at least two to three hundred dollars to this especially if you're doing all derailers, shifters, brakes, etc. If you really want deore componenets, I would jsut buy a bike with deore.

  2. The Trek 3900 2008 model.

my friend has this and he says its great so get this one

  3. specialized is much better. but i think giant and fuji have better deals. they have better components for the money you pay

    bikingthings

  4. Out of those two i would go for the Trek however have you ever heard of the make CUBE. Its a German make and they are top class bikes trust me have a look.
