  1. i have a senegal, green cheek con., a cherry head con., sun, jenday, and many more and above all the senegal is my favorite!!! she sings whistles, dances, all of this and she was a rescue so i think thats one reason she probally stands out more but her over all attitude is the best i have ever seen. but if you dont have any experience, then start with a con. or the senegal. I perosonally dont like the ring necks because they go through that stage and its so hard to get them normal, a friend again

  2. if your a begginer start with a conure or a cockatiel than after maybe the segnal. But if u don't know ringnecks go throught a biting stage and could last a couple months. But do ur reaserch and get educated getting a bird is a serious commitment.

    GOOD LUCK ;p

  3. I breed Indian Ringneck Parakeets and currently have 7 as companions and would NOT advise getting one unless you know something about normal parrot behavior because they are not first time birds.  They're WONDERFUL birds and besides Cockatiels are my favorite species.  It takes a different kind of bird parent to share their home with the IRN.  They also have a close cousin the African Ringneck Parakeet which is a more compact version with a shorter tail but the behavior is the same.

Yes they DO go through a bluffing stage after weaning and are very misunderstood because of that, but if you handle it properly and reinforce positive behaviors and love them through this natural transition to adulthood, they become very loving, loyal and well adjusted pets.  My youngest babies are just over 3 months old and just now coming out of their bluffing stage so it does take time and patience but it's worth it.  And not all of them got through that stage, I have a female who went through the weaning process just fine and she loves being held and has never been tempermental.

Senegals can become attached to one person and can become aggressive unless you socialize them properly to accept several humans but are very popular in aviculture and make excellent pets.

If it's a choice between the 3 listed above and I'm assuming you don't have experience I would say go for the conure.

  4. You could always get a parakeet (aka budgerigar). They're extremely easy to take care of and to tame, yet not too expensive. With parakeets, you can also get two. It's much more interesting and entertaining. I've had four parakeets for ten years and I've enjoyed having them very much :) They're definitely worth it!

  5. parakeets are good birds to start out with.

and once u get bored with it after about 15 years... they will probab ly be dead lol! ^_^

parakeets only live about 15 years.

If you want a LONG TERM bird, I would advise a cockatiel.  They last for about 80 years and --if u treat them right-- they are so wonderful...  they can even larn to talk and immitate! ^_^

  6. I use to have a Green Cheek Conure and it was a really sweet bird liked to cuddle. But a Senegal is a good choice too and a Cockatiel. The Senegal is on the playful side they can get to where they will roll over on their back and stuff it's really cute. So for me it would be between the Green Cheek Conure or the Senegal but I have heard that Cockatiels are great birds to have too, the males can learn to whistle and talk. Just research both and make a pick, I'm sure with what ever you pick, you will be happy with, their all great birds.
