For example an inspiring biography or autobiography or novel or any other genre, just not a self-help book. A book that changed my life was 'Why People Believe Weird Things' by Michael Shermer. He's a science historian and the book really opened my eyes and my mind to the different superstitions and ideologies people have and made me question things a lot more. Anyway I'd love to hear other people's answers.

  1. the peaceful warrior by dan millman

  2. Veronika decides to die*Paulo Coelho

  3. Memoirs of a Geisha really opened my eyes to a Japanese culture I knew existed but never acknowledged. Fahrenheit 451 also scares the bejesus out of me every time I read it. More and more things in that book seem to be coming true as every year goes past.

Also The Lovely Bones was really eye opening. That was a very difficult read, though and I cried through a big part of it. I had to give it away because I thought I'd read it again and just be a mess.

  4. "A Short History of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson.  If you like science books but don't like to get too deep in the math, then this might be for you.   It puts into perspective our history from a scientific point of view.  CHeck it out.

  5. -From The Corner of His Eye-Dean Koontz

The book really showed what was going on in the world, and what can be going on.(Paranormal) Book genre:Realistic Fiction/Mystery

    -The Chosen-Chaim Potok

It made me want to study more for some odd reason. The main characters were really disciplined/studious.Book genre:Novel

  6. The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer. I have discovered that as sad as this is, my life pretty much revolves around it. Reading Breaking Dawn, left me dissapointed that such an incredible love story had been ripped apart by the presence of 21st century language in Edward's speech :( and many other contributing factors which I really am not going to get into :)

  7. The Five People You Meet in Heaven

Terrific book...really made me think about how things happen in life.

  8. The Ethical s**t by Dossie Easton and Catherine A. Liszt

This book made me much more comfortable with being a sexual creature and getting over the ridiculous amount of guilt and negative stereotypes that today's culture attaches to s*x and love.

  9. Breaking Dawn I realised the past 5 years of my life revolved around a truly c**p series of books.

  10. We the Living by Ayn Rand

This is set during Communist Russia, evolving around the life of Kira and the hardships living in that era. My favorite book of all time. Very philosophical and moving.

Children of Men by PD James

Loved this book also. Very profound.

  11. The Wizard Children of Finn by Mary Tannen.

That was the first book I ever enjoyed (I hated reading before that).  ^_^  I recently bought a copy of it for nostalgia and all that.  Anyway, it started me reading and in fantasy, no less.  Fantasy is by far my favorite genre (not to be confused with science fiction, lol).  I'm even writing a fantasy story now.  ^_^  I think I'm rambling...

  12. Mostly Robin Cook's novels about medical horrors, makes you wonder about these private clinics and hospitals!

I work in the medical world too!

  13. The Bible seriously...
