Question:

What book/magazine should I get to get me started? Or maybe an Internet site?

Or, if you want to tell me all about them that would work to :-)

I've never driven a motorcycle. I've only ever ridden on the back of one...and I love it. I also know nothing about motorcycles...only what looks good. I'm 5'10"-5'11" and 140-150 lbs...what would be a good beginners bike for me? Or, what would be a good book for me to get so I can figure it out for myself? Any general advice?

Thanks!

  1. Start Here  http://msf-usa.org/

  2. Get trained before you go onto the road.

  3. www.motorcycle-usa.com

good place to start for general info and road tests/comparisons: cheaper than magazines and less bias due to wide range of reviewers.

As part of your training you should take the time to chat with instructors and fellow riders about bikes that are suitable.

After a browse of what you think you would like to buy come back to YA for a second opinion.

  4. Look for a safety riding course in your area and see if you can handle a bike first off. The trick is learning the balance of the bike and staying relaxed. Don't hold on like your life depended on your grip. Become one with the machine. The safety class's are free I think. AS far as size goes see how the ones feel in the class and go from there.  Just don't go new buy a good used one first coz more than likely your gonna drop it or some thing. And watch out for gravel on the road. Practice when driving your car for road hazards.
