"Shortly after becoming mayor, former city officials and Wasilla residents said, Ms. Palin approached the town librarian about the possibility of banning some books, though she never followed through...

Ann Kilkenny, a Democrat who said she attended every City Council meeting in Ms. Palin’s first year in office, said Ms. Palin brought up the idea of banning some books at one meeting. “They were somehow morally or socially objectionable to her,” Ms. Kilkenny said.

The librarian, Mary Ellen Emmons, pledged to “resist all efforts at censorship,” Ms. Kilkenny recalled. Ms. Palin fired Ms. Emmons shortly after taking office but changed course after residents made a strong show of support."

  1. I would think malleus malifecarum.  Her apparent disbelief in witches might get her turned into one of the rare breeds of horse that congress has deemed ******** by law.

  2. Hmmm, most likely anything regarding evolution, anything scientific. She's a nutty one. And not in a good way.

  3. Unfortunately there does not seem to be a list of the books Palin wanted to ban.

The librarian apparently refused any attempt to ban books and was threatened with firing for taking this stand.

No books were actually banned because a group of local citizens stood up to Palin. They were apparently able to get Palin to back down.

I want to make it clear that Palin wanted to take this action, and only backed down in the face of public outcry.

Palin should be asked by the media what books she had in mind, and why they should be banned.

  4. Apparently, no books were actually banned:
