  1. try the morganville vampire series by rachel caine

also vampire adademy by richelle mead

  2. Since you asked for no rude comments, I'll bite my tongue;-). I heard "The Morganvile Vampires" or something like that, had a lot in common with Twilight.

  3. I haven't read Twilight-coz i hadn't heard of it but wish i had-but a good supernatural series is the Fever series by Karen Moning.First is DarkFever, then Blood Fever and Fae Fever is coming out in 2 1/2 weeks.I can't wait.

  4. There are lots of similar books out there, I think the genre is called "Paranormal Romance" but don't let that put you off!

Some good books (in my opinion) that you might like to try are:

    1) Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison (Rachel Morgan series book 1)

Synopsis: Rachel Morgan is a young earth witch working with the Cincinnati division of the I.S., an agency that specializes in catching supernatural criminals. Still, the red-haired, temperamental witch is unhappy with her job: things haven't been going smoothly and her boss hates her. So she decides to leave the I.S. dragging with her Ivy, a 'living vampire' who was her former partner and Jenks (a male pixie), her current back-up. Trouble is... you don't leave the I.S.; it's a contract for life. (from Amazon) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dead-Witch-Walki...

    2) Touch the Dark  by Karen Chance (book 1 in The Cassandra Palmer Series)

Synopsis: Can you ever really trust a vampire? Cassandra Palmer can see the future and communicate with spirits - talents that make her attractive to the dead and the undead. The ghosts of the dead aren't usually dangerous; they just like to talk...a lot. The undead are another matter. Like any sensible girl, Cassie tries to avoid vampires. But, when the bloodsucking mafioso she escaped three years ago finds Cassie again with vengeance on his mind, she's forced to turn to the vampire Senate for protection. The undead senators won't help her for nothing, and Cassie finds herself working with one of their most powerful members, a dangerously seductive master vampire - and the price he demands may be more than Cassie is willing to pay... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Touch-Dark-Karen...

    3) Stray by Rachel Vincent (book 1 in the Werecats series)

Synopsis: Faythe Sanders is trying hard to be a regular American grad-student. That's not easy to do when you're really one of the last eight breeding female werecats in the country. And when a stray werecat attacks her on campus, she's pulled back home by her overprotective family for her own safety. It seems that she's not the first to be attacked - two of her fellow tabbies have gone missing as well.

    4) Bitten by Kelly Armstrong (1st book in The Women of the Otherworld Series)

Synopsis: Elena never planned that a casual sexual encounter would transform her into a werewolf. Neither did Clay, her lover and one of the leaders of the exclusive werewolf clique known as the Pack; women do not generally change or survive if they do. Elena's considerable reservations about her new life come to a head and she walks out on the Pack to return to something like normality, finding herself a boyfriend who turns a blind eye to her occasional disappearances in the middle of the night. She may have done with the infighting of werewolves, but they have not done with her; her former family call her back when they find themselves under threat from those they have excluded and dominated. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bitten-Kelley-Ar...

    5) Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice (Vampire Chronicles)

Synopsis: In a darkened room a young man sits telling the macabre and eerie story of his life - the story of a vampire, gifted with eternal life, cursed with an exquisite craving for human blood. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Interview-Vampir...

    6) A Girl's Guide to Vampires by Katie MacAlister

Joy Randall is a girl with big expectations and an even bigger love for vampire romance novels. Unsuccessful so far in her quest to find her soulmate, Joy can’t say no when her friend Roxy suggests a holiday to the Czech Republic. Tall, dark strangers? Tick. Craggy, romantic landscapes? Tick. Hoardes of centuries-old men who want to suck your blood? OK, that’s just Roxy’s over-active imagination. After all, vampires don’t exist . . . do they?

    7) The Host by Stephanie Meyer

Synopsis: The Host tells the story of Wanderer, following the invasion of Earth by a race of parasitic aliens - think Invasion of the Body Snatchers, or the Goa'uld from Stargate SG1. Melanie is one of the few remaining free humans not taken over by a parasite. But the story opens with Wanderer being inserted into the back of her head. Yep - this story is told from the perspective of the parasitic alien. What follows is a coming to terms story, as Wanderer evaluates what her brothers and sisters have done in taking over the world. Unusually Melanie hasn't 'gone away' and Wanderer has to contend not only with the memories of her host but also the consciousness of her host itself.

  5. I really liked Twilight, mainly because I'm fascinated by vampires. Books I'd suggest would be:

    - The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klause. It follows the story of Zoe, a teen whose mom is dying, and Simon, a vampire who is trying to kill his maker. They become involved, slowly, and it's actually very sweet in the way they look out for each other.

    - The Darkangel Trilogy by Meredith Ann Pierce. A little more sci-fi oriented than straight fantasy, I think, but it's excellent. They're some of my favorite books. Aerial is charged with the task of killing a darkangel (re: vampire) and then helping vanquish his brothers.

    - The Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles are always there, and I used to adore them, but the later books (especially the last couple UGH) turned bad IMO, and they are a bit more sensual/sexual than Twilight. I enjoyed when the vampires talked more about their lives in the past before they were made, and reading such intimate details about New Orleans is great.

    - There's always Dracula!

For a while at Barnes'n'Noble there was a display of books to read "if you like Twilight," so you could try that too. Sorry, I love books and vampires, I tend to get wordy!

  6. Rachel Caine. The Morganville Vampires. College vampires with a 16yr old girl genius.

  7. Try some of these:

Neil Gaiman is an amazing author! Any of his books are good. Try Neverwhere, Stardust, or Coraline.

Any books by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes are amazing! There is In The Forest of The Night, Demon In My View, Shattered Mirror, Midnight Predator. And then there is the The Kiesha'ra series: Hawksong, Snakecharm, Falcondance, Wolfcry and Wyverhail.

Abarat by Clive Barker, Make sue you get the hardcover version though!!! If you liked the first one be sure to check out the next book in the series Abarat: Days of Magic, Nights of War.

Daughters of Destiny series: Keeper of the Winds,Keeper of the Waters, Keeper of the Flames and Keeper of the Earth by Jenna Solitaire.

Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder

The Maximum Ride series (The Angel Experiment, Schools Out Forever, Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports, The Final Warning) by James Patterson

    Uglies series by Scott Westernfeld

The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray or Poison by Chris Wooding

The Riddles of Epsilon by Christine Morton-Shaw

The Abhorsen Trilogy (Sabriel, Lirael, Abhorsen) by Garth Nix

Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause

    Wake by Lisa McMann

The Princess Bride by William Goldman

A Great and Terrible Beauty, Rebel Angels and The Far Sweet Thing by Libba Bray

Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan

    Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt

The Morganville Vampire series (Glass Houses, Dead Girls Dance, Midnight Alley and Feast of Fools) by Rachel Cain
