    Stephen King:

    The Stand

    Salem's Lot

    Dark Tower series

    Misery

    IT

    Dan Brown:

All his books were good, everyone recommends Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons, but I think Deception Point was his best.  My least favorite was Digital Fortress, but that was still good.

Dean Koontz Odd Thomas series, "The Bad Place," and actually, most of his books are excellent.

David Baldachi's Absolute Power and Last Man Standing

I agree with others that the Harry Potter books are excellent.

Highly recommended, little known :  The Red Tent by Anita Diament.

Richard Bach's Illusions and Jonathan Livingston Seagull.

In the "self-help" area, I recommend "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff."

In biographies, I recommend "John Adams" by David McCoullough and Fawn Brodey's Jefferson biography.

For those interested in Thomas Jefferson's religious views, "Jefferson's Extracts from the Gospels," which is 1st in series 2 of the Jefferson Papers series.  and "Ye Will Say I am No Christian" for a collection of of Adams-Jefferson letters about religion.

    2. Mediator series by Meg Cabot

    3. The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown

4.The Alchemyst: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel by Michael Scott (It's sort of fast-paced and seems impossible to happen in such a short time but I think the plot is pretty cool)

    5. Anne Frank's diary

    6. Planet Janet, Planet Janet in Orbit by Dyan Sheldon

    7. Amazing Grace by Megan Shull(I haven't finished it yet but I totally love it already)
