  1. Read LOTS of picture books. Any books that you can sing or come w/ tapes/CD's borrow at the library to try before purchasing.   I had an alphabet chart on my daughter's wall and we would say the alphabet every night. Sometimes I would ask her to find the animal that matched the letter or vise versa...For numbers we would count going up or down stairs. If there were alot of steps i would count to 3 or 5 and then startover, when she could count to 5 with me - i counted higher. We counted mailboxes, large rocks anything in a row when we went out for walks, make everything FUN and remember Rome wasn't built in a day!

  2. i like the phonics books, k

  3. 1. Give Your Child a Superior Mind by Siegfried Engelmann

    2. Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons by P. Haddox  and E. Bruner

Try these books , I bought them online. I used it with my Preschool now 3rd grade and I really appreciate the results.

  4. Try using everyday things that are around you. Read food boxes, look for letters in the newspaper or magazines, point out numbers/letters when you see them at the store etc.  Or you could make a number/ letter book with your child. Buy an inexpensive mini photo album. Have your child find letters and matching pictures (ex. A - apple picture) in old magazines etc., cut them out & glue them to index cards... one per card. Slip the cards into the photo book and ta-da! you've made your own ABC book! Create number pages the same way using cut out numbers and your child's thumbprints or simple dots. Keep in mind the age and attention span of your child. Most preschoolers aren't going to make it through the entire alphabet in one night. So make a few pages at a time.

  5. Any number or letter books are good as long as you are spending time with her.  Try Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.  Also the "Letter Factory" DVD is awesome for toddlers.  My son knew all of his letters and sounds at two and a half with Letter Factory.

Kids also like easy shape puzzles with their numbers.
