I also like these genre's: general fiction, (auto)biographies, post-apocalyptic fiction, fantasy. Preferably challenging books that will take a while to read. What books should I read???????

  1. Swan Song by Robert McCammon/ Great long post apocalyptic novel

Crime and Punishment by fyodor dostoevsky

War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy

Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas

    Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand

All long books, Most are challenging and will make you think.

  2. I would recommend Travels by Michael Crichton. It's his autobiography. The book explores Crichton's experiences and the insights he gain into life as a result. He tells about attending Harvard Medical School, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, and directing Sean Connery in a movie, among many other things.  Even people who don't care for his fiction can get something from this book.

  3. My Non-Fiction recommendations are the two books by George Brennan, Jr.

    Bats, Brats, and Stats

    Excellence: Sons of Xavier Forever

  4. Do you like historical fiction?

I've read alot of good books lately... Two that really stick out--- "The Pillars of the Earth" (11th century English town and the cathedral that they are trying to build) and "Immortal" (about a boy who lives from 14th to 16th century in Florence, Italy.. during the renaissance).

Both of these books do intertwine in real characters that lived in this time. Plus they have alot to do with the turmoil of religion in those times (especially "Immortal").

  5. I personally like to read non-fiction.  That way while you're reading you can learn something.  Some of my favorite books are about the Holocaust.  One that I read recently was, The Mascot: Unraveling the Mystery of My Jewish Father's n**i Boyhood by Mark Kurzem. Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt is another good one.  You could check your local library, they usually have some pretty good ideas.

  6. The majority of the genres and themes you picked are of fiction, so if I were you, I would stick with fiction, mostly. However, if you are craving a philosophy book or a biography, don't keep from reading those, too. If you read both kinds, then you can carry on a conversation no matter what the topic and you will broaden your own horizons.
