Hello, I'm looking at buying new boots for rugby. I'm a left winger and very fast. I'm looking for boots that provide speed, but also grip on the pitch so i'm not slipping everywhere.

I was looking at the Nike Mercurial Velocity FG, wondering if they would be any good for me.

Thanks for any help!

  1. Whichever you choose, make sure they are blades and not metal studs. Espescially for a winger.

And whatever you do, don't buy WHITE, RED OR ORANGE ONES! Plain old black will do. Don't worry about the current fashion trends mate, there's an unwritten law in Rugby that you never wear any boots other than black ones.

I think it stems from when a bloke wore white boots and had a shocker of a game, and it made it really obvious each time he got the ball because of his boots.

    Glad to help.

  2. since ur a back you should by low-top rugby boots so you can run faster. The hightop boots are for the forward players.

  3. Take the high heels from Hollister they are about $25

  4. Go to world rugby shop or tight 5 rugby (do a web search). they'll outfit you in proper boots. go for low top ccc's, that's what most of the backs on my team use.

  5. if you fancy standing out from the crowd, buy the new orange vapour football boots...worn by lots of rugby wingers

    theyre very nice

  6. u should definatly by football boots as they are light and are good for kicking and running

  7. Try soccer boots - light but less protection
