as a girls name these days is the WORST?!

as the mother of 3 boys, (and 1 girl)...I'm horrified now that 2 of my three boys' names are being hijacked by little girls! it's silly!

and embarrassing for my boys...who are old enough to know it! (12, and 10 y/o)

What names do you think should be Strictly BOYS only!

disclaimer for the "touchy" feelings ppl:

**yes i realize everyone has their own taste...and their own opinion. i am not forcing anyone to reconsider a name they love...just stating my opinion**

  1. I love boy names for girls, even if other people don't. That's nothing against those people though. I just don't understand why it bothers them so much to make full questions out of it, it does nothing but stir up arguements. Nothing against you either(actually most of the time, I like your name suggestions).

  2. just to name a few..

    Riley

    Joe

    Tommy

    Stevie

  3. I agree with you. My pick is Avery. I love this name for a boy. Sigh, It isn't suited for a girl or woman. I also do not like the different spellings for it. If you are going to spell it Avarie then name her Ava. So many girl names out there for parents to choose from.

  4. shawn

    cameron

ryan ( kid actress ryan newman)

    riley

    peyton

No offense but i would name any of my future girls these name

  5. I think the names Jordan, Shawn, Cameron, and Taylor are for boys.

I don't think girls named taylor are as bad though.

  6. jayden, Jeremy, (I knew a girl named that), Johnny,

  7. Shawn (as in Shawn Johnson the female olympic gymnast)

    Jordan

    Cameron

  8. Almost all names that are "unisex" or accepted as girls names are truly boys names.

Ashley, Courtenay, Whitney, Sidney, Rhys, Dallas, Kendall, Jordan, Hunter, Taylor, Madison, Addison, Emerson, Avery, McKenzie, McKinley, McKenna, Tyler, Sloan, Jodie, Rowan, Darcy, Ariel, Bailey, Corey, Meredith, Stacy, Beverly, Casey, Colby, Claire, Kai, Kyle, Hayden, Jayden, Shannon, Tracy, Kelly, Lee, Ray, Morgan, Riley, Sage, Shelby

and that's my short list :P

There are already little girls named James running around. What on earth could be next?!

  9. Addison, Shayne or Shane, Ashton, Eliott, Jayden, and Ryan

  10. I really don't get why your sons would be embarrassed by someone else name.

Most of these name are still used as boy names they just are now used as girls names as well.

Do you consider all those that disagree with you to be "touchy"?

Personally I like some of the names but not all. I always thought it strange to come across a girl named 'Michael' but to each their own.

  11. jordin

    cameron

    dylan

    blake

    shawn

  12. This is a pet peeve of mine.  I am very disappointed that Hayden and Rowan are being taken over by girls.  These are names my husband and I loved for boys (even though I am not a fan of the -aiden trend, Hayden won me over), but refuse to bestow on a girl.  I am afraid Parker and Logan are going to go that way too.  There was even a time when Hunter and Austin started to go the way of the ladies, fortunately they returned to where they belong.

My biggest frustration is the name Kendall.  It is a family name, often bestowed on boys in my family.   I looked forward to using it for a son as I grew up and was devastated when Sarah Michelle Gellar's character on All My Children showed up with the name Kendall!  It was immediately usurped by little girls everywhere and now it is almost exclusively considered a girl's name.  What a shame!  My first child is Hunter Kendall so at least I felt good using Kendall as a middle name, but the first few weeks I often called him Kendall on accident.

I think James, Shawn, Shane, Dylan, Austin, Hunter, Logan, Rowan, Hayden, and Parker should be boys names only.  There are more I would list, but they have already been taken over and it is too late.

Will there be any "boys only" names in the future?  Time will tell...

  13. I'm with you on this. My oldest is Reese & when we picked that we had never heard of Reese Witherspoon or any other girl having this name. I never dreamed anyone would ever use it for a girl. And now, you know what? I have NEVER met another male Reese! All girls. Not much I can do, but it does kinda bug me.

  14. Ryan (Ryann), Avery, Taylor, Jordan, Bailey, Ashton
