  1. Most people find brands are based on personal preference... one person will tell you Burton is the best, and someone else might say Option, Nitro, Atomic, etc etc. There are a lot of great brands and great boards out there. Keep in mind that prices generally reflect the brands.

Think of it like cars - someone might say Honda is the best, while others swear by Ford, Mazda, whatever. People could argue for days about the reasons one is better than the other.

I wouldn't worry quite so much about the brand, especially  since you're 13, because you'll probably progress to a different board or a bigger size anyways. Obviously everyone wants a cool brand name, but in the end, it doesn't really matter. I snowboard with a group of friends on a regular basis every winter and I can't tell you what brand they have off the top of my head.

As for size... it's based on your height, weight, and the type of riding you will do (are you going to want to do jumps and tricks? you'll want a more flexible, slightly shorter board).

    Good luck and happy snowboarding!

p.s. if you're a beginner, my best advice to you is to take a lesson!!!

  2. Burton. Just go to a store, they'll measure you and tell you which to get.
