  1. The trans fat landscape is changing so fast that anyone who answers this question today correctly will be wrong tomorrow.  Manufactures are scrambling to remove trans fat from their label.  You can easily check the nutritional label on the package, it must say if there is more than 0.5 g trans fat per serving.  And don't assume that if you check the label once and its there that it will be there for long.  Most manufacturer are desperately trying to eliminated it because of the stigma associated with trans fat.  Sometimes its not easy.

A bigger problem is restaurants and fast food store.  They don't have a nutritional label where they are forced to disclose their trans fat use.  So there is less incentive for them to remove it.  Some fast food places have nutritional composition but you have to ask or they tell you to go on the web site.  It sure would be interesting if they had to live with nutritional labeling like the retail manufacturers do.
