I am looking to get 2 body boards, one for me and one for my wife, but I don't want to get cheap boards that will fall apart after a few uses. We may be moving to San Clemente, and will be in Encinitas for a week, and I would like to invest in some boards that will hold up for a while. I am not looking to break the bank on this purchase, but I do understand quality and price and how the two are related. I am just looking for a good board manufacturer that puts out a quality product that beginners can learn on. I was looking at the hard bottomed boards if that helps at all. Thank you.

  1. you are right to be looking at har bottom boards as foam boards will break straight away. The brand doesnt matter so much but i know that bodyglove, the wetsuit brand, make some fairly cheap hardback boards the in the uk cost around £30, in the states i would geuss around $45 ( we always have to pay more for stuff over here)

Where i work, along witht the body glove boards we sell wave maniacs and storm riders, these are two brands of slick back body board for around £15/ $25 that are also very good but perhaps with a slightly worse build quality.

too sum up, even the cheap hard back boards are not too diffenent from the mid range models as they are of fairly simple construction. When you get to the top of the range this will change as new materials and designs will come into play, if you would like a mid to top range board i can reccomend an Alder board
