  1. brand of camera is meaningless.

  2. the most popular brands with whatever paparazzi is there.  canon is popular with the americans as is nikon  but there are probably a few lycra and mamia and other highend cameras there too.

i kind of don't think you'll see many fujis...

  3. It depends.  I've seen both canon and nikon being used.  For taking images that will demand the highest resolution for print and whatnot, they're probably using a canon 1Ds, probably a mark III (for the 21mp).  For the fast action, they're probably using the new nikon D3 (for the 11 frame a second shutter) and fast, long super-tele prime lenses.  I doubt they're using any of the medium formats (like mamiya, hassleblad) for anything other than organized shoots under studio lights - those aren't very good "field" cameras.  Most of them use the very same camera's most of them probably use during any other sporting event where canon and nikon rule (nothing being under $5000-$8000 + $10000 for the lenses - one lens).

  4. Canon and Nikon will represent 99% of the field.

    Specifically:

    Canon 1D Mark II

    Canon 1D Mark III

    Nikon D3

    Nikon D700

will be the most common bodies. You will also see some Canon 1Ds (both Mark II and III), as well, but those are high-resolution bodies which don't have as fast a frame rate as their 1D counterparts.
