What brand of foundation do you use? And how can you tell if it's the right match for your skin tone?

I bought Cover Girl Tru Blend in Classic tan, and it was way to dark ! I matched it to my wrist, while at the store, but when I went to apply it, it was about 3 shades darker than my natural skin tone., I am considered light to medium..

  1. actually , i often change products to try out something , before it's all Loreal products, then i tried the Max factor thats ivory ,. quit fine but of course that will depend on the shade of your skin also the closest or the next lighter shade will be Good , try asking the attendants also of the color best suited for you but of course make good judgement of whatever they may tell you . at present , people are talking about the mineral make whch is good for the skin , loreal have the line  . still i suggest natural beauty is better . having make up or just the foundatuion will enhance your beauty but there are also risk behind it like break outs , rashes, etc, especially when not too good products you will use ,. Goodluck to you ,. sometimes spending a little more is better yet also lasts long

  2. Try puritycosmetics.co.uk. It is really good!

  3. Yeah! That happened to me too!

Except for me it was way to light.

I have like 4 foundations, because I keep getting new ones because my old ones are too light, but then I end up getting another one thats too light, just because I test it on my arm. Lol i'm gunna try it on my face now

    =)

  4. I use the loreal true match in buff beige, and its a good match for my skin...I cheat however and make it a tinted foundation rather than just foundation.  I like how its sheerer and doesnt look like your wearing a mask. And I just used the plastic sheet and picked the color that disappeared on my face...Good luck its a pain matching foundation lol

  5. I use MAC's select tint, or Bare Minerals. I go to the stores/counters and ask for help with the matching and i get a pretty much exact match (:

  6. I use clinique and you should always buy foundation a shade or two lighter than your skin tone because most likely your skintone is way darker than your face color :]

  7. Instead of testing on your wrist or hand, try and dot some onto your jawline and blend it in well, that way you don't end up going home with foundation that makes you look like a ghost or like you went for a fake and bake tan.

Another option is to get makeup that transforms into your shade. I use Almay Smart Shade makeup in Light/Medium and I love it. It's lightweight, but it covers quite well, plus I get my perfect shade. =P

  8. Hmmm.... Your first mistake is the most common, unless you are hand modeling never place it on your hands. Hands can be several shades lighter or darker than ones face. Also, no matter who's foundation you are using check it in natural light. Ideally, there are three colors one can use, one that is slightly lighter, an exact match, and a deeper shade. If you chose to do one of the extremes go with one to two shades lighter or darker.Your exact match, should be just that, it should blend right in to the skin and take the tone of the natural skin.

The next most important thing you can do, is look at you undertones and try to best match that. While, I have not met you in person, most people have a yellow undertone. This is the next most common make-up mistake, this is why some foundations can look ashen or take a pallor cast to the skin.

After, that is really about how much coverage you would like(coverage refers to how much of you natural skin you would like to show). Most people are happy with sheet to medium. Also, if you are looking for a sheer coverage a tinted moisturizer is a great option.

The best foundation are Laura Mercier, Giorgio Armani, and Bobbi Brown. Mineral foundation are ok, just be careful they tend to go on very full (mean coverage), giving it a more matronly look.

  9. i use the same covergirl foundation. but when your at the store. sneak a dot onto your face and see if its actually YOUR skintone. so your not just wasting money!!

  10. I don't use foundation all that much, but you should probably switch to Aqua Smooth, and get it in ivory.

  11. i bought two shades, one a i thought was perfect and the one lighter than it, i tried them each one at a time on half my face and the other half without makeup, and i discovered i needed t blend the two half and half, try it you may need to blen two foundations together

  12. i use MAC . always buy one shade lighter than ur skin tone cos after awhile the colour will oxidise.

  13. Yes you cannot match your make up to your arm color. Your face is a little lighter.

It's very chancy getting it at a store like that. You may have to get 2 & blend it yourself.

I use Avon & smokymountainminerals.com, it's blendable - pure & inexpensive. I blend to get my perfect shade. Tan & almond & some days warm beige.
