there are numerous makes of guns that are on the 1911 frame, so what brands are these made to fit? they cant fit all because the grips are different on most 1911 style guns. take midway.com. they have hundreds of generic 1911 grips, but not specific to any gun.

  1. "1911" is a standard size grip. They should fit Colt, Springfield and all the clones, including the very inexpensive Philippine imports.

  2. You're wrong, 1911 grips are the same, regardless of the maker. There's certain types of 1911 where the grips are different, and they are listed as such.

Any standard 1911 grip will fit any standard 1911.

  3. 1911 grips come in 2 sizes, Commander and Govt.(or full size), I'd say as long as you have replacable grips on your 1911, you can use the proper sized grip panels on any 1911 or 1991 for that matter. The only exception would be if you had a 1911 with a polymer grip/frame, then you can't change them. I really like the Hogue wraparound rubber grips with the finger grooves, and theyr'e cheap too.

  4. I do not think they would be willing to pay for the print space to list all the manufacturers and models of 1911 clones. I bet if you got them and they did not fit you could ship them back for a refund. I have a nice set of walnut grips on my Colt 1991 A1 fits perfect. You might want to keep the originals for collection reasons.

  5. All 1911 grips are made to fit Colt brand 1911s

As a way around this problem all makers of 1911's clone their guns to fit Colt grips

    Anthony

Commanders take the same grips as full size 1911s

The difference is the barrel length

Officer models take a different size grip

  6. "they cant fit all because the grips are different on most 1911 style guns." - You are mistaken.  A grip made to fit a "1911" will fit a Colt, Springfield, Remington-Rand, Singer, Armscor, Rock River Arms, Doublestar, Arcadia Machine & Tool, etc.  I THINK they'll fit a Kimber, too.  They won't fit Llama, (actually not a TERRIBLE pistol for the money), but Llama won't (can't) tell you it's a 1911.

  7. All 1911 frames are the same..

Even 1991 A1 colt has same grips as 1911.

  8. The Colt 1911 45acp has been cloned, copied, duplicated, replicated and yada to the Nth degree probably moreso than any other handgun on the face of the earth.  1911 grips fit the original and most likely any of the above.
