What brand of mineral powder should I get?

Question

I decided that I want to try out loose mineral powder foundation. I have oily skin with large pores, would it be good for me? What brands have you tried, and which ones worked? Also, how do you put it on? Should I apply a primer or something to help it stay all day? Thanks in advance.

I use Bare Escentuals, and I love it. I have some large pores also, and they almost disappear with the mineral powder. I went to Sephora for a color match, and to show me how to apply it. I also use a primer under all of my makeup. It seems to give the makeup a smoother look, and it does stay all day.

ColoreScience or Jane Iredale.  They're by far the best in the mineral makeup world.  A little pricey but worth it.  Both of them have pressed powders in a compact which are great because they're no where near as messy as the loose.

When applying mineral based makeup always give your moisturizer 10-15 minutes to absorb prior to application.  That rule really goes for any type of foundation you use.  Prevents it from getting cakey & makes it last longer.  With the pressed you can use either a sponge or kabuki style brush for the most coverage.  Less is more with minerals, go ahead a apply in a circular motion all over the face.  With a sponge, press in the powder then press & roll in to the skin.  Give it a few minutes to warm up to your body temperature & it'll feel like nothing!

If possible stay away from your department store "mineral makeups."  The FDA really doesn't have any regulations on who can call themself "mineral makeup."  So, essentially it could have 2% minerals & bam! They're mineral makeup.  A lot of them have fillers like talc, silicone etc. Not very good for the skin.

bare minerals is the way to go!!! dont fall for the maybelline over ratings, it looks cakey and u will have to keep applying it...bare minerals will give u great coverage and stay on all day for those days that u want better coverage althought it already is their primer is great!
