I am 2 weeks and 2 days pregnant I don't have an appt to see my dr til Sept 9th, I need to get some prenatal vitamins. I have always taken my multi everyday so I figure I will be fine til the appt, but I don't want to take a chance. I'd feel better if I had prenatal just incase my multi is lacking something.

Can anyone tell me an over the counter brand that you used during pregnancy or that ur doctor told u was good? I heard One Source was good, anyone use that before?

  1. I started taking prenatals when we started trying to have a baby, I just went to walmart and got the walmart prenatals, which the dr told me was fine, but when you actual go to your dr's appt they will want you to take the ones they prescribe, and its best to take them at night before bed

  2. i took my prenatals for a little over a week and they were very hare to swallow and made me not feel so great (not the same for everyone of course) i took chewables as my doctor advised me to and had a very healthy 9lb 9oz boy

  3. I take Materna

  4. You can use two Flintstones complete if you find that the prenatal vitamins hurt your stomach (as they do for many women). Or you can take 2 Flintstones Gummies and suppliment in folic acid.

  5. i do think you would be fine to wait until your doctor gives you a prescription, but you can always call and ask him/her to call or fax one into your pharmacy.  I'm taking primacare (which is prescription) gel tabs.  they have a chewable form too.  I would stop taking the multi vitamin...when i mentioned that to my doctor, she said that was a big no as multi vitamins tend not to have enough folic acid and calcium.  they also may be too high in vitamin A which can be harmful to the developing fetus....

  6. kaiser Permanente Brand. and there not like horse pills either.

  7. I LOVE the ones from Costco.  They are $12.49 for 300 and they meet all requirements plus they aren't huge and don't me ill like others did.

  8. The best prenatal supplement is JuicePlus+.  It delivers need folicacid and most "prenatal's" don't even have folicacid.  JuicePlus+ is a balance whole food supplement of high nutrition of vine ripe organic fruits and veggies.  None of the JP+ is synthetic like most vitamins and none of it is fragmented like most vitamins.

It has been tested by many different medical facilities and is used by many doctors in their practice to help their patients have better health.

    Check it out.  www.juiceplus.com/+Lb53116

Go on line and read the research.

  9. I used a brand called DUET. I don't believe they are over the counter, but you may want to ask your Dr. about them once you go, they are great and they don't cause constipation like some because of high iron content.  I was told by my Dr. that I could use prenatal vitamins if I want, but if I wanted to use something over the counter, Folic Acid was the most important thing. I think at this stage in the game for you, that is your best bet. I think a vitamin is a vitamin... but make sure you get your Folic Acid.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. All my best.

  10. I have used Target brand prenatals for 5 years and they work great for me. They are inexpensive- $6.99 for 200, and they don't upset my stomach.

  11. I asked my OB/GYN if she had any preferences or recommendations. She said that all prenatal vitamins were pretty much the same. So I take the CVS brand prenatal vitamins - much more cost-effective than some of the other brands.

  12. The brand I am taking is Called NataTab Rx.

    Good Luck and Congratulations!

  13. i was given the generic brand free at my dr. office :)

  14. i used the store brand and it worked and was a hole lot cheaper

  15. My doctor told me that all pre-natal vitamins are pretty much the same and that I could just use the prenatal vitamins from Wal-Mart, which is what I did.  They were like, $8 for 250 vitamins and they have worked really well for me.

  16. I used CVS..you get like 300 for $20. They are the same as a brand name!! I also started taking Expecta it's good for eye and brain development. Ask you doc about that.

  17. CVS pharmacy brand with CVS pharmacy brand DHA supplement!

    It's quite cheap that way.

  18. One source prenatal vitamins .

  19. I am taking the One-A-Day Prenatal Vitamins until I see my doctor.

    Congrats!
