I'm a high school student looking for a little more musical enrichment in her life. Sadly, my parents won't pay for a keyboard, but they will for lessons. So I'm looking to buy one off of craigslist.

I've never had a keyboard before, so I don't really know much about brands. I've seen Yamaha, Casio, and Radio Shack on craigslist and was wondering what your thoughts on those brands were. Please speak from experience or thorough research. I want to get something worth my money.

  1. you cant really go too far wrong in buying a keyboard if you stick to the well known brands such as yamaha, casio, roland... etc... because the sound they produce is pretty much the same and they all have great feature and are guaranteed to last many years

yamaha are generally good value for money, when i was looking for a piano i ended up buying a yamaha electric piano instead, it has served well and is very near to the sound quality of a real piano.

a friend of mine has a yahama keyborad and she thinks its fab!

as yamaha is a well known brand, the keyboard will have a guarantee and serve you many years of enjoyment!!

you should be able to find a good price for a yamaha keyboard in a music store but its also worthwhile to look at a few second hand - you could really pick up a bargain.

  2. You definitely can't go wrong with a Casio or Yamaha keyboard.  My sister has a casio that works very well.
