I was thinking of Tootsie Rolls and Dum Dums because the wrappers are paper, and so I figure they are biodegradable...

Thanks!

  1. Well it is Tootsie rolls,Dum Dum Lollypops, and Swedish Fish because you can recycle there bags and wrappers.

  2. HAHA who cares its candy

  3. Not sure about candy, but check out this website:  www.climatecounts.org.  It gives out lots of information on large corporations and how they score on the "environmental consciousness" meter.  Who would've thought that Nike, Starbucks, and General Electric were actually doing good for the planet?

  4. hmmm.......swedish fish are vegan. and u could probably recycle the bag.

  5. i does not  really matter maybe card board or some thing that has a re-newable resours

  6. i would say the same thing as u did.

  7. I'm not sure, although I do know that Mars brand does animal testing, and that most chocolates use child labor.

  8. Lollies that do not have gelatin in them and ones that do not have plastic wrappers.

  9. any candy filled with hot air is best..personally,I like dumdums best..then I feel I am doing my share

  10. Organic candies are better for the environment.  This is because the ingredients for these are produced without pesticides that degrade soil quality, water systems and ecosystems.  Pesticides and fertilizers contain heavy amounts of Phosphorus and Nitrogen, which leech into our water systems.  Phosphorus is a limiting factor in freshwater systems, and Nitrogen is a limiting factor in salt water.  This means that too much of these in the water systems actually damages the ecosystem, and can turn the waterway into an unlivable environment for organisms.

The best example of this would be the dead zone in the gulf of mexico.  High nitrogen content in the Mississippi river (from heavily fertilized agricultural lands) flows into the gulf, turning the sea water into unlivable conditions.  The result?  Miles of sea water void of life....

You also need to consider the social environmental consequences of candy, as well.  Fair trade cocoa beans (chocolate) means that workers harvesting the beans were paid fair and livable wages.  If candy companies ignore the social well-being of those nearby the factories or working for the company then it is not an environmentally just candy.

  11. If you shut off your computer the electricity you save will allow you eat whatever candy you choose.
