Do you buy hemp / oat / rice / almond milks?

I want to know what brand(s) of dairy free 'milks' you buy. (Not intending to sound nosey!).

If you highly recommend a certain brand, I'll go and buy it!

Thanks! :)x

  1. I'm a Silk fan.

  2. I buy Almond Breeze Unsweetened almond milk most often. It's just awesome, it's great for chai tea and to add to sweet cereals, cream of wheat and Farina, baking, etc.

Whenever I'm at Trader Joe's I buy one of the soy milks they offer there, it's under their company name. It's also unsweetened. I try to avoid as many added-in sweeteners as possible in my diet.

Sometimes I will buy Silk but it's owned by am enormous dairy company (Dean Foods as of May 2002) so I feel apprehensive about my money going into it.

  3. I buy plain, organic, unsweetened Silk soy milk.

I've never tried hemp, oat, rice, or almond milk.

  4. silk!

i did have this panda one which was pretty good

then i tried another one which wasnt that great

I didnt like the rice milk

  5. I buy silk but i'm looking for an alternative since the company also sells cows milk under a different name.

  6. Unsweetened Almond Breeze.   I find most milk alternatives are loaded with sugars and other nasty things to make them tasty.

Almond milk already has an natural (yet subtle sweetness) it also has fewer additives and preservatives than some of it counterparts.

  7. I usually buy sensational soy, or sogood (but thats a little sweeter, even for plain). Sometimes I just buy the kind my local store sells (their vanilla soymilk is the best!)

I tried rice milk, but wasnt too fond of it. Almond is okay, but I still prefer soy.

  8. I don't know if you have it in the UK, but I really like Silk soy milk!:)

  9. Silk milk, it's REALLY tasty... vanilla flavor is the best! im not so sure what hemp milk is but it sounds a little strange, almond milk sounds good though... i think ill try that!

  10. There is no such thing as non-dairy milk. Dairy usually refers to the place where exraction and or processing of milk takes place. A dairy farm is where the milk is extraxted and a dairy factory is where the milk is processed. Milk refers to the liquid produced and extacted from the mammary glands of animals including humans.

If "strict" vegetarians are going to be techinical about definitions, then the same standards should be applied to them as well. Since you are one of those who have posted questions and answers time and time again about vegetarian definitions, then you should abide by your own standards of definitions lest you also be labeled as a hypocrite.

The so called "milks" like rice and soy "milk are not real milk. Anymoe than fish is vegetarian, right?

  11. you've been snooping in my refrigerator haven't you!!!

    jk

I love soy milk but it hates me- light silk brand is my preference, but I can't really drink it, but it is in my refrigerator because my daughter drinks it

now RICE milk... if it wasn't for the calories, I would drink it aaalllll day long. It is so magically delicious! I drink the rice dream brand, but sparingly... I do love it though

    almond milk is good too

  12. i like rice, sometimes almond. i intend to try hemp and oat one of these days but havent. my gf uses the soy milk so i end up having more of that than the other types even though it really isnt my preference. soy does seem to work well for baking though.

for brand, usually dreams or silk, because they are easiest to find. I'm not that particular.
