  1. I've seen alot of thoroghbreds and I myself, have one also.

  2. There is not specific breed for 1 dicipline. A horse may be better then another horse but all horses are different! Hope I helped:) Good Luck!!!:):):)

ANY HORSE...draft horses are not always the best though but they can jump!

  3. There is no specific breed. I have rode anything from a Haflinger to a Thoroughbred and I do Hunters. I would say just go for the temperment and age rather than breed.

    Hope this helped!

    I agree with Quarter Filly....HI QH~~~~

  4. There is no specific breed for any kind of dicipline! I just go a new horse Pretty Boy who came from an all western home and he is now doing Hunter (he is a quarter horse). I also have a Paint mare named Abbi who is about to start Hunter. There are so many differance breeds and they all can exel in anything!

  5. well any horse can do hunters as long as they are fancy enough and can jump around a corse with lead changes and everything but I see a lot of TBs but I would say the most common are warmbloods.

  6. thorobred

  7. any breed that has the ability and strucuture to jump... ponys jump... saddlebreds, drafts, quarter horses, paints, threkener,warmbloods.... any realy.... What i have mostly seen jumping at big shows is TBs.... jumpers are usualy large, tall, slender, and agile..

i read your question wrong...  thought u sed hunter jumpers...

show hunters usualy are appy, quaterhorses.. tbs, morgans.... ive seen them all but mostly quaterhorses.

  8. Since the '80s, more and more Warmbloods are coming into the hunter ring.  Before that, the hunter of choice was (and still is for many people) the thoroughbred.

When you are talking children's hunter ponies, you are looking at Welsh and Welsh crosses (often to Thoroughbreds).

Edit:  I suppose it depends what what you consider a "show hunter".  I've seen people enter Fjords in unrated local hunter shows but they are not competitive against the aforementioned breeds in A rated company.

  9. It use to be thoroughbreds butt times are changing and Warmbloods are now the new craze!

  10. I think most breeds have the potential to be good show hunters, but the most common breeds are Thoroughbreds and warmblood types.

  11. Typically Thoroughbreds or a Warmbloods.  Hanoverians are popular as well, especially for someone who is going to move into Jumpers one day.  I have seen a few Quarter horses in the higher end show and the occasional Arab.  In the lower shows you can see just about anything and even Appy's, Paint or Pintos (Flashy horses) are common.  If you plan on eventually going beyond the local schooling shows and eventually into Jumpers, I would suggest a TB or a Warmblood of some sort.
