I know i have already asked this but i didnt get very many answers.

First of all, i am 11 years old, but this is my older sisters account. I have a chinchilla and a holland lop rabbit. I take care of them just fine. My rabbit gets at least an hour of playtime every day, and the chinchilla gets two hours every other day. Also, our family has a bichon frise dog which is a family pet. I have wanted another dog for a really really long time, and I'm wondering if i'll be able to take care of a rabbit, chinchilla, and a dog. My mom already said i can get a dog, and i am hoping to get some suggestions on what dog breed i should get if i decide to get a puppy. I want him/her to be mellow, not very active, but not lazy. I prefer small dogs, and am very into designer pups. Also, our bichon frise is almost an elder, at age 7. He is not allowed to come upstairs, so could i keep the new pup upstairs most of the time, and bring him down to go to the bathroom and stuff like that. Also, our bichon doesnt really like playing with other dogs very much because he gets tired out very easily. Will the new puppy's energy annoy him? Although, Tucker(our bichon) does like snuggling with dogs and grooming them. Thanks so much to everyone who answers this!!!

  1. Umm.....

You have alot of responsiblty already.....

I don't think you should get another dog. It'll take up all your time.... Friends....family......extra time....

I'm 16.... I lost a friend due to illness in Dec. We were very close and i was lost with out her (still copeing) and in march i started asking for a puppy. My parents said ok... Sense ok my friend died... and i didn't talk to anyone the rest of the year >_< K soo... i asked in march (well feb/march) and they said when school is finished... So in June i got a Pekingese Japanese chin mix. He's my responsiblity!... We have a 4 yr old rat terrier also...but he doesn't come up stairs...

My puppy is my baby. Not left alone for more then 4 hours! He's being crate trained for school. Or he goes places with me cuz he's small (3-5 lbs)

I think with you rabbit and Chinchilla your time should be spent more with them. If you work hard your rabbit and possibly chinchilla can be litter boxed trained. That'd be cool ^_^

I don't think a dog is the right way to go... Sense you just "want" one and don't realize how much the 15 year comitment is.

And designer dogs....Please don't fall for that. My mix is considerd a "designer" but believe me... He was only $100, 8 weeks old... started shots... and dewormed.

So he was healthy. Don't fall for them micro mini's or w/e.

So please... pay more attention to what you do have. Not what you want to have.

  2. have a cavalier king Charles spaniel and they are great. they are beautiful and they are very obedient. they are not that crazy. they require a lot of love and attention. they love to be petted and cuddled with. THEY ROCK!!!

  3. well yorkshire terrier are little dogs, all they need is about 30 minutes of exercise a day, and about 20 minutes of play time.

    there adorable dogs. also.

toy poodles are also the same.

    here a yorkie:

    here a toy poodle:

the toy poodle stay from about 6-9 pounds.

and the yorkie is about 4-7 pounds.

good luck there both very intelligent

    and lovable dogs.

    Good luck on your choice.:]

  4. Get a shih-poo. They are designer dogs which are mixed between a shih-tzu and a poodle. They can be fast sporty dogs or lap dogs, so you will have to pick them yourself. They learn very quickly and love praise. They are very good with smaller animals (unless you get a very rambunctious dog) and are friendly with most other dogs (depending on personality again) and they are small and don't grow heavier than 15 lbs. They also have hair not fur and don't shed much so they are good for people with allergies.

    Try this website: http://www.geocities.com/shih_poo/about-...

I hope you find the perfect breed

    Good luck!

  5. oh course you can take care of multipule pets at one time.

    take me for an example.

    i have a.....

    1 corn snake

    2 dogs

2 betta fish (female is pregnant)

    1 house gecko

    2 blueberry dwarf hamsters

and i get around just fine and are able to manage all of them.

i would rercommend a dog that is not very active. i know that all puppes are at times, but carin terriers (toto in the wizard of oz) are great. they aren't big messy dogs, they only get about 20 pounds and your dog would be fine with them, because they are about the same size. i used to have one and it was so calm, it just slept in my lap all day. but my boxer and pit would try to play with it and scampi would just run away and curl up in the lap.

  6. I would say a Pug. They have lovely temperaments, are very friendly and love being with people. They are not too high energy, but still fun to be around with.

This site has some good information on the breed:

  7. TRY A CAT!!!!

  8. a small dog

  9. hi,

to know what type of dog will suit you, you can use this dog finder match up http://dogtime.com/matchup/start

the goal here is to help you figure out what type of dog best suits you and your personality. The results of the match up will suggest certain breeds.

    hope this helps

  10. Labradoodle. They are incredibly smart animals, very loving too. Easy to train. I'm thirteen, but I got my dog Austin (a labradoodle) when I was 11, nearly 12 and trained him so that he's crate and house trained, and can do all the cool tricks like play dead and shake and all sorts of stuff. They are incredibly smart, and (here's a plus!) I have severe allergies and sinus issues. Flowers send me into allergic reactions, so I couldn't have a dog for the longest time because they would make me sick. But labradoodles have hair, not fur, so they are always soft, they don't shed and they are hypo-allergenic. The thing about labradoodles though, is they are very energetic dogs and like to run and exercise. But just playing fetch for maybe 15, 20 minutes a day and they'll be good. Also, they are friendly, sweet dogs. I love my Austin!

  11. Olivia, I think you should go to your local animal shelter. You can find great puppies there, sometimes they will even put you on a waiting list for when they get certain breeds, this way you are not only getting your puppy at a cheaper price (your parents will like that), but you are also saving a dog from the chance of getting put to sleep or spending a lot of miserable time at a shelter, it's just an idea.
