Question:

What breed is she?

So, my mare is 14 years old and I have had her for about 2 years, this will be my third summer with her. Many people have come up to me and asked me, "Is she a (insert breed here)?" Most of the time they are way off! So I am curious to see what you guys all think she is! She is 16.1hh and is a chestnut with a bit of roaning, which increases every year. Her show name is Amanda Rae but we all call her Mandy. Here are some pictures at a show that we recently went to a few weekends ago: http://www.pageassoc.com/~bhsphoto/Events/pvda/pvda_rfl2008/riders/333/index.htm

We got a two seconds and a fourth at that show in First Level.

  1. thoroubred!

  2. Might I say before I answer this question that she is absoulty stunning. She looks like some sort of throughbred. Maybe a cross with an Apendix. Something like that.

  3. she looks like a quarter horse crossed with TB

  4. Looks like Akhal-Teke and Appaloosa to me.

  5. She looks like a Hanoverian

Oh and congrats on the wins, she is a nice mare so it really doesn't matter what her breed is as long she can do the job right? :~)

  6. Anglo arab? She is GORGEOUS!!!

  7. uhm either QH or hanovarian. really adorable though!

  8. the skin and  coat color looks like a Thoroughbred but the bone structure and chest looks like a warmblood so my guess would be a thoroughbred x warmblood. with the socks i would also guess that it is a paint x warmblood.

edit:she wouldnt happen to be from a belgian sire and a thoroughbred mare would she ?

  9. Quarter Horse or Solid Paint... I'm thinking stock horse breeding...

  10. For the 1st few photos i would have said hanoverian but then she looks more irish draught like so either a cross of them both or hanoverian or irish draught. She looks a bit like mine who's a thoroughbred X hanoverian

  11. hanoverian, quater horse, aklaha teke, oldenburg idk she is very pretty

  12. Maybe an appendix?

  13. She is cute!  You two are well-suited.  Is she a purebred or a cross?  I am stumped, I must say...I'm going to go with  warmblood x, or Irish draught x.  "x" being something lighter like a TB, paint, etc.  I am curious to hear your answer!

  14. o wow, she really is a beuty, i would prob. say a thourobred, or a french trotter, american trotter, i forgot what it is actually called

but i think she is either a thourobred

    french or american trotter.

but she is really a gorgoes horse........i wish i had one

  15. Thoroughbred?

  16. I'm gunna guess shes a full blood paint.

dunno why, but she seems like it... and if shes not paint then a TB x paint?

shes beautiful whatever she is! i love roans/roaning [=

  17. shetland... to be honest i have no idea

  18. Are you sure she's 16.1hh?  She sure doesn't look to be 16.1hh unless you are REALLY tall.

I think she looks like she has Trakehner in her personally.  She is lovely!  I wish my mare would carry herself like that...someday!

  19. Ok im not good at guessing breeds but to me she looks like either a red roan x with paint. i dont really no! But she is gorgous! My mare looks like her but shes a bay, and she is a stockbred paint! but she almost looks like a roan!?!? Its weird.

You gise look beautiful together though! Good Job!!! Cant wait to see the answer!

  20. Irish draft x TB ? Maybe Irish sports horse ?

  21. She doesn't look 16.1HH, but that depends on how tall you are.  She looks like she has Arab in her - Anglo-Arab is my guess.

Um...and all horse breeds are 'human developed'

  22. she looks a lil like a dutch warmblood but sh has the head of a quarter horse......i would love to find out the real answer cant wait

  23. I would have to say an Appendix, Paint x Thoroughbred, or maybe a Hanoverian cross???

  24. Oldenburg/Paint Cross

  25. By the markings on the legs I am inclined to guess Paint cross.

I say cross as the head is very large and the back is long.

I am horrible at distinguishing breeds.  So many out there!

  26. ok this would be an easier thing to answer if we new her conformation becuase that would leave out a lot also you say she has some throughbred in her so she must be a cross bred horse is she a rare breed or an everyday breedok i am going to .list all of the breedds i know
