I got a kitten today, however i'm very much unaware of what breed it could be. I saw the kittens mother, she was a pure white fluffy cat. Her pregnancy was apparently by a neighbors cat which the guy i got the kitten from said was possibly a tabby (The kitten does have tabby markings so its very likely the father was the tabby) So I think my kittens a tabby cross somthing. The kitten i got was the misfit of the litter because the rest were also pure white (all the litter was all by the neighbors cat) .. What kind of cat could the mother of been? My kitten prodominatly Tabby looking but all its paws are pure white as is the center of its face and all its underbelly, what could it be?

Thanks x

  1. Odds are it's no particular breed - like 97% of the cats on this planet.

Do be sure to get this kitten tested for Feline Leukemia - a deadly and incurable disease.  Since the parents of this kitten were allowed to roam outdoors they could have contracted the disease from other cats and passed this on to this kitten.  Keep this kitten away from other cats in your home until you have it tested or it could infect them as well.

Tabby, by the way, is simply a coat pattern - not a breed.  If your kitten has vertical striping on the body then it's called "Mackerel" Tabby and if it's a pattern of whorls it's "Classic" tabby.  Most common is Brown Mackerel so your kitten's colour is most likely Brown Mackerel Tabby and White.

  2. if it has the markings of a letter m on its fore head then its definitely a tabby..but all your description is pointing towards it being a tabby kitten
