  1. most Dog Breeds that are common in one state, are common all over the US.

Most toy breeds ( Chihuahuas, Yorkies, Pomeranians, Min Pins, Maltese ) are not good with Children, and are prone to many health problems because of their small size.

So, I would suggest getting a larger breed.

Such as a Golden Retriever, Labrador Retriever, etc...

For the price, I would def. Go to your local shelter, most shelters have adoption fees for as low as $15 to as high as $200. Which is not a lot.

I am sure your local shelter has many dogs available that would be great for your family.

    Good luck.

  2. Labrador Retrievers.

I looked it up, and it came back with a million websites (nearly..) saying Labrador Retriever.

  3. You're not going to find any type of dog (even a shelter dog) that's lower than $400, so that has to be about the minimum you're willing to pay.

Look into shelter dogs first, mostly because some dogs from breeders can be over $1000 and shelter dogs are just as good as others.

If you have the time to commit to taking a dog on walks once or twice every day, then opt for a medium-sized, gentle dog breed like a golden retriever or lab.  If everyone in the family is busy most of the time, then you'll want a toy breed that can handle staying in the house with few trips outdoors to relieve itself.  It all depends on your lifestyle and how much effort the family is going to put into raising a dog, whether there are small children in the house, etc.

There aren't any breeds of dogs that are common to one place or another, you'll have to check several shelters in your area to see if they have any breeds you're interested in, and they might not, it's all a matter of luck.

  4. i would say a golden retriever, but it all depends on what you think would be good.

don't think about the breed, because each dog has different personalities, and will act differently even if he is "one of the loyal breeds" find in an pound a dog, or another place that gives them away for free. buy/ borrow a book that explains to you how to train/ and check what dog is good for you.

to find the perfect dog you should do the following things:

    1) make a loud noise and see what puppy is not frightened and will come marching up to you.

2)hold that puppy with you hand on his chest and see if he stays still(not perfectly..) and make sure hes keeping eye contact.

see if he likes you.. (1).. i hope this helps and good luck!

also a labador is good, for an active family, the labador needs a lot of out door activity!

  5. Well, sometimes it depends on what kind of climate you live in.

If you live in a muggy, usually rainy and wet climate, and have a few kids, and live in fairly small neighborhood,a Labrador would be perfect for your family. its one of the most kid-and-teen-friendly dogs, its loves water, and is extremely nice and comforting.

    However,

If you live in a hot, steamy area, and live in a dense neighborhood, surrounded by other dogs, a small dog with not a lot of hair(i would strongly recommend hypoallergenic if anyone in your family has allergies or asthma), preferably a Yorkshire terrier or Chihuahua would do you very well in your home.

And here's a tip to help you find cheaper dogs...

NEVER go to pet shops that sell puppies, and other animals. They usually take the puppies from the mother instantly after they were born, which can cause diet and behaveioral problems, and not to mention that their prices are usually very expensive. Try animal shelters and homes that take in puppies.

    The best of luck!

  6. Probably a short haired dog, probably a big one so that the gators won't get 'em!

  7. You local animal shelter has plenty of animals that can be adopted for a small fee, best of all they are already spayed or neutered before you come home with them. If you go in, they will show you what may be best for you.

  8. The best way I can think of to find out what is abundant locally is to go to www.petfinder.com, find the list of local shelters and rescues and then find out what they have. That would be a big clue.

    Good luck!

  9. i am not sure if this breed is common in flordia, but a great family dog is a golden retriever. very loyal and smart. good watch dog.

why does it matter if its common or not?

  10. chihuaha
