  1. Maybe a Goldfish or something.

    Maybe a Starfish.

  2. Well, going against some popular and over advertised belief that Goldfish would go good in small bowls or small tanks...this is truly a myth. Goldfish do NOT belong in bowls or small tanks.  A male Betta would be good.  INSTEAD of a male Betta...maybe a female Betta.  But dont mix em (male/female) and only One female for this size tank.  (You can have more than one female Betta in BIGGER tanks (3 or more) with plenty of plant cover and hiding spaces.)  You dont have to have a filter with a Betta...and a heater is not needed if you keep the room temp at between 70 and 80 degrees.  Though these are helpful (heater and filter)...its not needed.

If you have a filter for this tank...that is the most important part to know what fish you can have.

With a five gallon and a filter...5 neon tetras would be great or 5 Blacklight tetra.

With a gallon and a filter...and even a small heater...you could get 1 Dwarf Gourami (Blue or Flame...your choice).

The only Other fish options that might work...a couple of platties.  Just get two females or two males...cause ya dont want babies in this tank.

You could also add a couple of ghost shrimp in here...they are great little cleaners.

    Best of Luck!

  3. You can get 2 african dwarf frogs, 3 female bettas, 3 zebra danios, 3 black kuhli loaches, 5 feeder minnows, 1 male betta, 3 tiger barbs, 3 albino coradoras catfish, 2 bubblebee gobies, a few guppies, 2 mollies, some ghost shrimp,a paradise fish, or 5 neons. But most of those would barely work. Seperately, If you want to combine some do alot of internet research or ask yahoo again. You should avoid goldfish at all costs, the feeders even grow to 6 inches and their dirty.

Or if you want some easier...

You can get hermit crabs instead of fish. It would cost more, but its really worth it.

  4. 1 male betta

1 female betta (don't get 2 females, they need to be in groups of 3+ to establish a pecking order or they will fight)

    2 guppies, or platies (don't get male/female)

With the above you could even add:

    a couple of ghost shrimps

    a couple of snails

    a dwarf frog

Do not get goldfish as they will grow large and need a 20 gallon+ tank.

  5. One male OR female Betta. No other fish should be kept in a 5-gallon. You can add a few shrimp and one or 2 snails.

Bettas enjoy a well planted aquarium, (live or silk, no plastic plants that can rip their fins,) and a cave for exploring and resting.

You will also need to cycle your tank:

    Edit:

Glad you have a heater, it should be set at about 80F.

Also, Bettas are weak swimmers, so if your filter can be adjusted, it should be set on low. Otherwise, place a tall plant or other tall decoration in front the flow to weaken the current.

  6. One betta is all you can put in a 5 gallon tank. No other fish would suffice in such a small aquarium. Only put on betta in an aquarium.

  7. Heater + Filter : 3 Southern Platys

Filter : 3 Meduim size Goldfish

  8. betas are good fish but you cannot have betas of the same s*x in the same tank because they will kill each other but there are a variety of other fish that you can put in a 5 gallon tank... oh and make sure when you do buy your fish that if the store has one of those security metal detector things... hold the fish above the security thing because some of them are set on a frequency that can stun or kill your fish.

  9. all these fish need heaters

    2 female bettas

    5 guppys

    5 small tetras

  10. yes to females can be together but remember that the female have to outnumber the males also dwarf platys are were small and are great for 5 gallon tanks

  11. Shark

  12. Well do you have a filter, or a heater. If no filter you could probably get one or two if very  small goldfish; of course eventually in that case you would need to upgrade to a bigger tank. If you have a a heater, I would say something like 3 or so dwarf platies, and an oto.

Also having female fish together is totally fine.

  13. i like fantail guppies they are fun to have and watch and they are very easy to take care of. Same with tetras because there are a lot of different kinds of them. However, you will need a heater and a filter wouldn't hurt. Without a filter you will have to clean the tank pretty often.

  14. bettas are very easy to care for.tow females or one male

    NOTE:

make sure the female has a short tale.
