Is it male or female?

Do you like / love it? Why?

What made you decide to buy it / lease it / or agree to ride it at lesson time?

What style of riding do you do? Why?

Do you show? Why or why not?

What horse would you get if money wasnt an issue?

  1. i ride a thouroghbred(sometimes) and i think, a quarter horse other times. its just a guess. his name is felix, (the one i ride alot) i was looking for some good hoses & a good instuctor for a lesson when i first rode there, and i ride engish, beginner hunter

Yes, i show, but mostly on the local level. i love it!

i would get anykind of breed if it had a good temperment, and i would want a buckskin of a black horse

  2. I used to ride quarter horses when I was young.

I remember mom and dad taking me, watching me on them.

Me, bouncing up and down, them staring at me as I went around.

I saw them smiling so wide as I rode.

They were very proud of their little boy.

Then when the horse stopped and I looked at them with my little helpless eyes and that look... only parents could love... my eyes would tear up just a little bit.

I'd watch them go over and put another quarter in the machine so I could ride again...

    ahhhh those were the days.

  3. I ride a thoroughbred.

    She's a mare.

I love her...  because she's my horse...  why wouldn't I?  She does try to bite me sometimes, but she's sweet sometimes too.  And she does anything I ask when I ride her...  I first started with her and she was lame for a long time, so hadn't been ridden in at least a few months and she wasn't sure about things, but we worked up to where we are now.  she used to hate poles and wouldn't walk on the bridge we have and she wouldn't canter her right lead and stuff, but now we're doing small jumps and she'll go where i ask and do whatever I want.  She's funny because when I ask for a flying lead change, she can't switch her back legs very easily and she'll hop up and down until she gets it, then she'll continue cantering.

I actually did not buy, lease, or ride her in a lesson...  i was actually very lucky when i came to the barn to start teaching lessons, she was there as a lesson horse, but had been lame and not ridden for so long and she needed someone to work her back into it...  so it was kinda part of my job...  i was just really lucky to get a TB to have as my horse without paying for her or anything.  and I was especially lucky to get an englishy horse in a western barn!

I ride hunt seat...  and do a little jumping.  I rode western when i started and I can do it...  i prefer english though.  It's more fun.  i hate seeing those western horses moving so slowly at the trot and canter...  it looks unnatural.  give me a hunter any day.

I show...  occassionally.  I don't show my mare because I don't own her and don't have a trailer or any opportunity to get her to a show.  I showed in college in the IHSA...  we ride school horses...  whichever one you pull out of the hat, you get on and enter the ring immediately...  since i don't have a horse, that's what i could do.  I'm in law school now and I ride IHSA in the alumni classes.  My college coaches offered to take us to shows in the summer, so i showed in real shows last summer and I hope to again this summer.  When I show, I do because it's fun to show off me and my horse and hopefully get ribbons...  and see how well i do against others.

I'd by my horse if i had the money, yes.  when i get out of law school and get a job and start making money, I want to either get a retired TB racer or a young horse from a rescue place.

Fun questions...  although it sounds like some kind of a report.

  4. I have ridden Arabians my entire life.

i still have my first horse.

she is all around, jumps, barrels, English, western trails whatever and she is a 34 year old mare.

I agreed to take her because she was given to me, but she was an Arab and i was like wow.

I love bareback the most but barrel racing is a rush. its my fav.

I do show my horses, in hand, English and in gymkhana. showing for me is just another way for me to enjoy my horse, and she people what Ive got, and that even a 34 year old can pull anything off.

If money wasn't an issue, id rescue and Arabians, and train them up. i think every horse has a chance to be great. that's why i got an off the track race horse who is now English pleasure, a tierd but young companion pony who now has a little boy that loves him, and an x saddle seat crazy Arab who i trained and now has a loving home. I would spend all the money i could at taken care of the old horses that people forgot, and say need to be retired just cause they're old or done in their career.

  5. 2 gelding bay Trakehner's, Brothers actually!

Horses are the ultimate in human animal relationships, they can literally sense your intentions...

I wanted a horse breed that were athletic and trainable, with good endurance, and a bit more spirited than horses of other warmblood breeds. Also I took advice from a long time friend who  was a United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) - (USDF) AA Judge and horse breeder, and knew I wanted 2 horses, 1 for Dressage and 1 for Eventing. So she introduced me to 2 of her geldings. I ride English of coarse.

Currently I show C rated Dressage and USAE Eventing, sometimes 3-day Eventing.

Money cant buy the heart of a horse!

  6. I'll only talk about one of my horses which would be a 5 year-old Buckskin Quater Horse, Gelding.

His name is Marty and I love him SO much! I've had horse half my life and so yea.  I ride western because it's easy. And I do barrels w/ him. He's really good at them too. Even though we've only done them like 2 times. lol

We have 2 more horse but i just wanted to talk about Marty sense he is my horse then we have another horse Pongo that is my dads and Justa our mare that is like our families. Sense my mom doens't ride much. Pongo is 9 and is a gelding to. Jesse sure does love them both. lol
