Well, you see I am taking a test on horses for my lessons... and we have to find the answers for our study guide and I am stuck on these two questions: What breed of horse won the Belmont Stakes this year and what is the difference between male and female horse?

  1. Well all the horses that run in Triple Crown races are Thoroughbreds (i think i spelt that wrong).

But there also is Quarter Horse racing but only Thoroughbreds do the big work.

And the horse that did win the Belmont was a filly named Rags To Riches, and was the first filly to  win over a mile and a half and the last filly to win the race sense 102 years ago.

  2. The breed of horse that won the  2007 Belmont Stakes was a thoroughbred. All of the horses that run in the Triple Crown are thoroughbreds.  This year's winner was Rags to Riches. She was a filly (female horse). Female horses are delicate. They are not known to win against guy horses except the occasional fillies that won the Kentucky Derby (Regret-1915, Genuine Risk-1980, and Winning Colors-1915) Fillies do have a lot of heart and give all they have to win. Colts (male horses) have a more serious look to them and they are basically known as the s*x of the race horse.

  3. a chestnut Thoroughbred filly called Rags to Riches won the Belmont.

The difference between a stallion/gelding and a mare is a mare does not have a...boy part.

  4. Only thoroughbreds are permitted to run under Jockey Club rules.  Yes there are races for Quarter horses, Arabs, etc but they are not eligible to run in the major races.  All thoroughbreds are DNA tested at birth to prove that they are pure thoroughbred.

Apart from the obvious differences between male and female horses (ie one has a uterus and the other doesn't), the main difference is strength.  It is factually correct that most colts are stronger than most fillies, hence the weight allowance that the girls get when running against the boys.  This is to even the playing field.

  5. A quarter horse won the Stakes, but gained fame for being the 1st female horse to win the Stakes in more than a century.

and for the other question, i would have to say that the male has a p***s and the female doesn't.  Easiest way to tell!!!!!

  6. Rags To Riches ( the filly that one the Belmont stakes) is a Thoroughbred. Usually the horse that run in these major races are Thoroughbreds!

  7. ALL OF THE TRIPLE CROWN RACES ARE FOR THOROUGHBRED RACE HORSES. OVER THE YEARS IT'S A FACT THE BOY HORSES RUN FASTER THAN THE GIRLS, BUT ONCE IN AWHILE A MONSTER WILL SHOW UP AND GIVE THE BOYS A RUN FOR THEIR MONEY.

  8. Most race horses are thourouhbreds. Rags To Riches is a filly which means she is a girl. This means that after her racing career she can be bred and her offspring may or may not be good race horses. Thouroughbreds can also be used as show jumpers. Males when they are done racing are usually put out to stud and mated with females to produce offspring. My grandfather used to raise race horses back home in England.

  9. A Thoroughbred filly named Rags to Riches won the Belmont.  The difference between a male and female horse?  The male has a p***s and testicles (unless he's gelded, then he just has a p***s), and a mare doesn't have the goods.

  10. All of the horses in big time races like that are Thoroughbreds.
