  1. All the things that made up your parents and their parents  and so on and so on are coded on your genes.  You get some and some are thrown away but half of what makes up your dad and half of what makes up your mother finds its way together to make up you.  That is why, when a new baby is born people look for likenesses in the eyes and face and behavior.  It used to be the only way to guess if the baby was really the fathers or the milkman's

  2. All are multifactorial traits, meaning they are a result of a combination of both genetics and the environment. Also in terms of genetics all are polygeneic, meaning that more than one gene is involved.

Colour: Obviously genetics, but exposure to the sun and ingestion of certain foods can change skin pigmentation. There are several known genes involved with skin colour.

Height: Genetics gives you a certain potential height. Whether you achieve this height will depend on the environment, primarily nutrition.

Weight: Again there are genetic factors, but what you eat and how much exercise you get are major factors.

  3. Differences in color, size, height and body weight are generally determined by the composition of our DNA that we inherit from our parents. The part of our DNA that makes us male or female also plays a role. Environment also plays a role in all of these physical factors. For instance, a person who is malnourished throughout life may not attain his maximal height or weight. Skin color, hair color and eye color are determined by a brown skin pigment called melanin. Melanin genes have different levels of activity, so some make more melanin pigment than others. Depending on your combination of melanin genes, you get a certain skin color. If your melanin genes produce melanin at low levels you appear white because the dermis of the skin is actually white in color. If all your melanin genes are highly active at producing melanin your epidermis skin layer (which covers your dermis) becomes dark brown.

  4. In a pickle: GENETICS, in other words, the DNA and genes of your parents
