Question:

What bug/insect is this?

I live in Los Angeles, California and recently, a lot of people have said that they've been bitten by a bug that they did not see when it was biting them. One person said that it left little red dots on his skin that was irritating and itchy and another person had "little holes" in his skin after the bite.

What kind of bugs could have caused this?

And what kind of biting bugs are "in season" right now in Southern California? Thanks in advance!
