  1. I think rowing does.only because your using your arms abs and momentum on a bike you only use your legs.

  2. At the same effort, exactly the same. If you work at 200 watts on each exercise you will burn the exact same number of calories.

If you are trying to ask which you should do however, then I would suggest both, an upper and lower body workout. If you have to pick just one, go for the rowing because it strengthens your back (or should do if you carry out the correct technique) and peopls backs are generally what let us down first when it comes to injury.

Edit: Contrary to what some people have said, biking works more than just your legs; your abdominals work to raise your upper leg and your glutes, obliques and lower back work in opposition to it. Forearms and shoulders are also used, especially in mountain biking. Stationary rowing works your biceps, shoulders, back and abdominals, but unlike cycling, there is a rest period where you move your body to the initial position ready for the next stroke. Cycling actually uses more muscles, more continually.

  3. I'm not sure which burns more but I have had both in my home and the rowing required a lot more effort and I felt my whole body got a work out from rowing more so than on the bike.

Try this below and see if it helps

  4. rowing because i works your arms, stomach and leg muscles. bikes only work your legs

  5. i would think biking, because you can stand up or sit down and switching it up would help work arm and leg muscles, and it is easier to sitch speeds and uphill or down.
