  1. grayhound,trailways....amtrack...and any taxi

  2. Peter Pan Greyhound goes nonstop from DC to Grand Central in Manhattan.

  3. no

  4. Take your local metro/subway train (green line, based on the map) downtown; it looks like you either have to switch at Lexington Market to the yellow line north bound, to reach Penn Station (or else have a short walk from State Ctr.).

From there, Amtrak, Greyhound or Peter Pan can get you to Manhattan. Buses arrive at the Port Authority bldg on west 42nd St; trains at Penn on west 33rd.

From Manhattan, it depends on where in Westchester you want to go.

Amtrak serves Yonkers and Croton-Harmon (so you wouldn't have to leave Penn station), but not every train stops there. On the east side, they probably have a stop in the New Rochelle area; but I'm not sure.

Metro-North Railroad serves numerous communities along three lines: along the Hudson River (the Hudson line), along the LI Sound (the New Haven line), and through the center-to-northeast parts of the county (the Harlem line). These trains go out of Grand Central Station on east 42nd. From Port Authority, walk to Times square and you can take the S or 7 trains; from Penn, take the 1,2,3, or 9 (look for the red circle) to TSq; and take the 7 or S east from there.

Or, it's not a bad walk if you don't have a lot of baggage.

Buses serve most parts of Westchester; many routes center out of White Plains (along the Harlem train line), the bus station is just northeast of the train station (look for the ugly parking garage).

Without more specifics on where you're heading, that's the best I can do.

  5. you have to go downtown and catch the grey hound bus...that is the only bus that will get you there...now if you want to take a train you have to again go downtown and take the amtrak train

  6. You probably would be able to take the light rail from Owings Mills to Baltimore and then get a greyhound bus from there...
