I'm taking the MEGABUS to uc irvine, but since there are no stops in irvine, I have to arrive at LA. which bus(es) can take me directly to UC Irvine? I've heard that the traffic between these two cities are pretty bad... has anyone taken the buses to irvine? i would really appreciate it. THANK YOU

Los Angeles, California, Union Station -

Arrivals and departures are located on the street behind the Amtrak Terminal building, at the sidewalk beyond the courtyard between Union Station and the Metropolitan Water District building.

  1. Don't bother with the bus, just take Metrolink.  It will take you from Union Station to either Tustin or Irvine.  This takes about 1 hour.  From there, take an OCTA bus to get to UCI.

Metrolink runs till 6:30pm or so.  After that, you can use Amtrak instead.  The stations are the same but it's a bit slower.

  2. instead of megabus from San Diego you can take

*Amtrak *direct* to Irvine (or Santa Ana) (I suggest Santa Ana

since OCTA has more buses from Santa Ana station that

    go directly to UC Irvine

Now if you are coming off megabus from the Bay area or Las Vegas, then you can take either metrolink or Amtrak

to Santa Ana (I suggest Metrolink as your metrolink ticket

acts like a transfer to the OCTA bus (Amtrak tickets dont)

  3. go on
