What button do you press to check items in pokemon pearl?

Its for pokemon pearl and i never played it before and i also never played a ds before so please tell me thank you

Press X

then go to items by pressing down and then a when it's highlighted.

it is the x button and it brings up the menu then go down to the bag and press a and there you go. hope this helps:)
