  1. Ethan,

This is the 2nd time that I'm answering this question.  Your Camcorder is older, so IT DOES NOT HAVE FIREWIRE(firewire is the standard way to connect a digital camcorder, yours is not digital)

    Snowwillow,

Check the spec.  IT'S NOT DIGITAL, NO FIRE WIRE.

You need some sort of converter to get the recording onto your computer.  Some high end video cards have inputs for video capture, but if yours probably does not so you need to buy a video converter.

Best Buy, Circuit City and Comp USA carry them.  You can get 1 for ~ $40.

Once you have the video converter, plug the A/V cables from your camcorder into the converter.  If you don't have them, you can buy them where you bought the converter.

ADS Tech USBAV-192-EF Video Xpress USB 2.0 Video Capture ~ $40 or Dazzle DVD Recorder ~$50

  2. If it is new intel~fire wire. ware do you get it oh yaa fry,s

  3. If you have a mini dv (cassette) camcorder….

Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) in order to download video, your PC probably did not come with a firewire port, so you will have to buy one and install it, since most computers (except possibly brand new) don't come with a firewire port, your camcorder did not come with a firewire cord so you have to purchase a cord too. Your camcorder did come with a USB cord and that is used for downloading stills from your camcorder.

If you have a mini dvd camcorder….

You will have to finalize your dvd in the camera and then put the dvd in your computer 's DVD burner (top loading only) and then you will have to convert the files (i downloaded handbrake file converter free) and import them into your editing program. Use the HELP feature in your editing program to learn about editing. Once you are ready to burn, your project will be burned to a different DVD and you can file the original away.
