What cables to get my tv through 5.1 surround?

Question

I am now setting up my home theater system, all of my cables are to be chased into the wall so I want to get it right first time. Which cable will connect my plasma screen to my surround sound to receive both tv and my computer ( which is set up to the screen) through my yamaha surround sound amp and working in full 5.1 surround. I have purchased some red and white audio jack leads but I think that may be too easy.

To extract sound from tv is really quite simple-The trick is only your tv has audio out jack thats all! Now  hook the rca cable(red/white cable) to the AUDIO OUT JACK at back of the tv to your AUDIO IN of your amp- you can hook it on eg. at aux,cd,or video.  Then hook all the speakers  to the amp. Its ready.Cheers.

Run all your equipment into your Yamaha AV Receiver and then run your Yamaha AV Receiver to your TV.

The best cables to use from AV Receiver to TV would be the Component Cables because your Yamaha AV Recever doesnt have HDMI Outputs

Turn on TV to AV input being used and it is then a matter of picking the right input on the Yamaha AV Receiver to watch whatever it is you want.

NOTE:

Keep all H.T.S. speakers at least 30cm away from your TV because of the magnetic field around your speakers it may damage the TV

Being a carpenter and a man who loves his home theater, here is my two cents.

Chase every cable for every connection that you plan to run remotely.  Sounds like it will only be your tv, so run cables for everything that your tv has.  I would even go so far as to research the connections for the most expensive HDTV that you can find and run the connections for that.

At some point you will replace your TV, and the best set today will be the average set 5 years from now.  The more options you leave yourself the less hassle it could be in the future.
