What cage is suitable for 2 robo hamsters?

I was thinking of an aqarium but then I would feel bad because of the little air flow. A LOT of the cages at petsmart are those plastic crittertrail ones and I HATE those because of the tubes. What do you recommend? Is this a good cage:

Would they escape from there?

  1. Robos cannot squeeze through bars that are 1cm or less. Any cage with bars that size will do. Aquariums do not provide enough ventilation and therefore collect bacteria easily.

  2. No its not.

  3. I dont know about that cage. The hamster looks pretty small in pictures. You can buy a 10 gallon aquarium and they make cage toppers that sit right on top of the aquarium for hamsters that have that tubes and all. Little pricey. The aquarium is about $15 and the topper is between $20 and $30. But with the cage topper it would give the aqarium so air flow in it. And aquariums are very easy to clean. If I was afraid of escape attempts I would get the aquarium. They sell all you need at Petsmart.

  4. It is Known that robos Can fit through the bars it is recommended that robos to be housed in aquariums, because its more harder to escape and if it does escape its impossible to catch it so sorry but aquariums are more suitable

  5. WAY too huge. they will slip through the bars and escape. i got a three story cage for my two gerbils from petco and its great!!! it comes with a wheel, its wire with no tubes, i dont like those ones either. there hard to clean. good luck!!!

  6. Robo hamsters are the smallest of all dwarf hamsters and hardly grow to be 5 cms in length. Also they are the most hyperactive and wriggly of the dwarf hamsters and can easily escape through the smallest gap in the bars of the wire cages. That is why it is not advisable to go in for wire cages for robos since they can escape through the bars of even wire cages that are specific to other dwarf hamsters.

The ideal cage for robos would be only glass tanks, bin cages or the commercially available plastic moulded cages without any gaps for them to escape. For the same reason, they would need moulded exercise wheels since their legs can get stuck in the wire wheels.

Being the most hyperactive of all hamsters, they also require lots of tubes, tunnels and hideaways, so make sure you get all those in your hamster cage for a active and happy robo hamster.

  7. no, robos will squeeze through any bars, they NEED aquariums, another alternative would be a bin cage with mwsh 'windows' on the side.... use 1/4 or 1/8th inch wre mesh to make t and itll be all good=] here are some good bin-cage building sites:
