  1. Dowg, the only cheap gun U could find is probably a .22, maybe even a .38....or a .380!!

    But don't settle for those....Settle for a .45!

  2. Look for a Springfield 1911 GI model.  It is basically a WWII "replica" and is a very sturdy.  It will be hard to find for $250, but I got mine for $350.  You can't go wrong with a .45 caliber 1911.

  3. If you wanted a 1911 you could get a rock island armory 1911, but they are hit and miss. if its your first gun its best to start with a .22 or 9mm. as tempting as it is, you should never buy a handgun on looks. I'd love to have some guns would have no purpose to me just on looks, but im prudent.

If you still want a 1911

you get what you pay for

  4. If you want a semi-auto on the cheap go with a .25 or a .32 if you want a revolver,go with what I have a Ruger .44 Magnum with a 5 1/2 inch barrel.A six shot single action,got for hunting,home defense,and a quick draw at cowboy shoots.

  5. The 1911 is a fine gun.  Take a serious look at the Star PD.  They don't make them any more but they are very reliable and light weight.  1911's come in various calibers from small 380s, to 9MM 10MM 40S&W, 460 Rowland, and 45ACP with variations in 357Mag (Coonan) and 45 winmag (Grizzley).  The 45ACPs are the most common and will do whatever you need them to.  Also remember, the most expensive gun is not always the best gun.  Save up a bit, get one and enjoy.

  7. Maybe if you shop around for a long time you'll find something like a M1911 for your desired price, but it will probably be damaged cosmetically.

For $250 you could probably find a used 9mm handgun made by Taurus or an import with a similar looking style to the 1911.

You could by a brand-new .22lr semi-auto at a place like Bass Pro shops for around $275ish.
