  1. Homeschooling is not illegal in California.     The court decision was vacated and is being heard again.

  2. I have no issues with homeschooling per se as long as the parents sincerely believe and can demonstrate that their child can get a better well rounded education at home than in the local school, be it public or private.  I've known personally of homeschooled kids who were accepted into top tier universities, so I know it can work under the right circumstances.

It's those parents who want to do it only because they want to isolate the kids and push some sort of agenda (be it religious or secular) that are causing the trouble.  Those are the ones who give homeschooling a bad name...and are prompting the PTB to outlaw homeschooling.

Awhile back,  I've read that some white supremicist groups are getting into homeschooling big time but they are teaching a hate-based agenda to their kids instead of what they really  need to know.  Hopefully, that's just an urban legend, but I find that truly frightening that a parent would do something like that to a child and to society at large.  When that kid gets out into the real world, they're going to be in for a rude awakening.  People have to know how to get along with all sorts of different people in order to make it in this world, but if they're brainwashed to believe lies and propoganda under the guise of education, then they are being put at a severe disadvantage.  Such types of "homeschools" are tantamount to child abuse in my book.

  3. Calm down, they are not trying to "break down" anything, they merely wanted to ensure the parents who teach their kids are qualified to do so and everyone got their knickers in a twist. Judging from the outrage and hue and cry it won't even get passed so calm down.

  4. Homeschooling is not illegal in California. The court decision was vacated and is being heard again.

  5. Home-schooling here is legal! Un-schooling where you buy used books and never see a teacher is illegal! If you use a public charter school you are fine. We use K12 and have no problems.

FYI I Home school because my kids need one on one something not given in school at all.
