What camcorder should I get? A vx2100, or something cheaper?

Question

I want to get a sony vx2100 for filming skate/snowboarding and short movies.

Is their a cheaper camcorder that would work well (like good quality video/audio, or at least something that can use a separate mic)?

- I have owned a couple cheap Jvc mini dv camcorders that had ok video outdoors, and terrible audio (they had a buzz sound)

- I will probably be using the camcorder a lot, because I am planning on doing a job with filming and video editing

the Sony is a good camera but you might want to look at a used cam on Ebay. The Sony vx1000 would work well as would the Canon GL-1 or 2. Mini-dV tape...great pic quality and thinks like external mic input...manual controls and white balance...all the good stuff and way cheaper than buying new.
