What came before Tivo?

Question

In the 90s I had two similer devices to tivo.

Both had on screen TvGuide, and started and stoped my VCR.

I could only record one program at a time. I can not remember the names does any one know???

I remember one of them requested the chanel linup up over PBS

I believe you are remembering VCR+.  The signal was distributed over multiple stations in a market.  We had one of their inserters at our station for awhile.
