What came first, the chicken or the egg

i love this type of question. just to get you thinking!

The egg. A prechicken bird laid an egg. This egg had some genetic mutation not found in the parent. When it hatched, it became the first chicken. Such a mutation could not happen suddenly in a mature chiken.

In reality, the process took many, many generations and there was no sudden differentiation. However, the principal that the mutation occurred first stands, because such mutations don't happen in mature animals.

I agree with Kauna, If you trust what God said in His Word (and I do) He created the chicken along with all the other animals. Genesis 1:21.  But evolution states that the chicken evolved from a chicken-like ancestor that evolved from a soup-like substance.  I guess it comes down to what or who do you trust or believe in.

The egg came first.  The question doesn't specify that it was a chicken egg.  It could have been a dinosaur egg, and dinosaurs were on earth long before chickens were.

I know that this is evading the question a bit but the egg came first because many prehistoric animals where hatched before chickens even existed. The chicken probably evolved from one of these animals.
